Doors
in Umbria, perceived in their diversity and ambivalence, have
inspired this book. At doors something starts or ends. They allow
or deny the change of space, create good or bad emotions in the
viewer. They evoke memories, are access to renew or new experience.
Mediterranean coloration, in mild Sienna, goes through the whole
book. The expressive formal language of the graphics - flat, symbolic,
ornamentally accentuated - opposite the colloquialism of the poem,
which preserves its artistic value through the revival of extinct
metaphors. Overlaying Scripts stand for the multilayeredness of
the poem. From the wooden gates of historical motte-and bailey
castles to the electronically controlled glass doors of presence,
it became a walk through the centuries as well as through the
path of life.
